A collaboration between the Departments of Otolaryngology and Family Medicine at Queen's, and the Department of Emergency Medicine at Western University, has produced an evidence-based review of the management of Meniere's Disease. This review was the feature article on the cover of this month's Canadian Family Physician journal.

Dr. Jason A. Beyea appointed as a Scientist with the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences (ICES)

ICES is a not-for-profit research institute encompassing a community of research, data and clinical experts, and a secure and accessible array of Ontario's health-related data. Dr. Beyea's research with ICES uses population-based data to evaluate predictive and preventative factors involving ear disease and hearing loss.

Music to our ears: New hearing device program formally approved!

With several successful cases under its belt, an innovative new program is officially underway at Kingston Health Sciences Centre to restore hearing to many patients who can’t be treated with regular hearing aids.   The Bone Anchored Hearing Aid (BAHA) program in the Departments of Otolaryngology and Audiology/Speech Language Pathology at the HDH site has been approved to implant 10 BAHA devices each year. This is welcome news for the many patients who have been identified as candidates for this treatment.
